The Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) course is delivered through the nationally recognised AVI50222 Diploma of Aviation – Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) qualification. Upon successful completion of the course requirements, students will be issued with the Diploma of Aviation and a CASA Commercial Pilot Licence.Your flight training will include a minimum of 153 hours of flight experience in our Diamond aircraft fleet, including approximately 70 hours as Pilot in Command (solo), as well as training conducted using our Flight Training Device (FTD), commonly referred to as a simulator.
At the completion of your flight training, you will undertake a CPL Flight Test with one of our CASA-approved Flight Examiners. The flight test is approximately 3.5 hours in duration and assesses your ability to operate safely and competently to the commercial pilot standard.
Flight training hours are dependent on individual student progress. Additional training hours may be required to achieve the required competency standards.
The CPL course includes a significant theory component, with approximately 900 hours dedicated to classroom activities, briefings, self-study, and assessments.
Students are required to successfully complete seven CASA CPL theory examinations as part of their training pathway. Our experienced Flight Instructors provide support and guidance throughout your theory training to help you develop the knowledge required for commercial operations.
The AVI50222 Diploma of Aviation – Commercial Pilot Licence (Aeroplane) is completed within 52 weeks.

AIAC conducts Diploma of Aviation course intakes approximately four times per year.

Students are required to pay course fees as they become due. Flexible payment arrangements may be available. Please note that AIAC does not offer scholarships at this stage.
To be considered for this course, students must meet the minimum entry requirements outlined below. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee admission, as all applications are subject to assessment and approval by AIAC.
Students must be 18 years of age or older prior to completing the CPL flight test. Students under 18 years of age may enrol and commence training with parental or guardian consent, where applicable.
Prior to enrolment, we recommend that students obtain a Class 1 medical certificate issued by CASA through a Designated Aviation Medical Examiner (DAME). A Class 1 medical certificate is required to obtain a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL). Completing this process early helps ensure students meet the required medical standards before committing to their flight training pathway.
International students who are unable to attend a DAME appointment prior to arrival may be required to provide a certified and translated copy of an equivalent medical certificate that meets CASA medical requirements.
Students are required to apply for an Aviation Reference Number (ARN) and an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) as part of their aviation training requirements.Students can apply for an ARN and ASIC upon arrival at AIAC.
Students must demonstrate English language proficiency sufficient to undertake aviation training and meet regulatory requirements. International students whose first language is not English must provide evidence of English language proficiency through an IELTS (International English Language Testing System) assessment with:
an overall score of 6.0; and
no individual band score below 5.5.
Students must also achieve a minimum ICAO English Language Proficiency Level 4 during their training.
Applicants who have been pre-approved for enrolment may be required to complete a General English Language assessment as part of the selection process.
Applicants must provide evidence of one of the following:
A Year 12 / senior secondary school certificate confirming completion of a senior secondary qualification.
or
An Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate IV or higher qualification where the language of instruction was English, supported by a Testamur and Record of Results;
or
Successful completion of our approved Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) assessment demonstrating the required reading and numeracy skills.
Applicants are required to participate in a pre-enrolment video interview with the Head of Operations and complete additional pre-enrolment assessments where required.
Students must provide consent to mandatory and random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of enrolment.
International students must hold a valid Student Visa (Subclass 500) and overseas health cover prior to commencing study in Australia.
While studying, students must maintain compliance with their visa conditions, including requirements relating to academic progress, attendance, and English language proficiency.

Students are required to have access to their own laptop or tablet to support their studies, as well as a valid personal email address for receiving communications from AIAC and relevant aviation authorities.
